The children's theatre specialists at Adventure Stage Chicago have announced the company's 2009-2010 season. I confess I don't follow this sort of thing nearly as much as I should. The season consists of two plays, the first an adaptation of Lois Lowry's book Gossamer and the second a musical version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic called The Ghosts of Treasure Island.That reminds me, I should add the 1934 Wallace Beery-Jackie Cooper film version of Treasure Island to my Netflix queue.
Although I've been terribly remiss in checking out this company's productions (not being or having a child at present), I've heard plenty of good things about its work. Following is the information on the two shows straight from the news release:

But are the dreams Littlest One weaves strong enough to fortify and protect the fragile humans in her care? Beautifully staged using colorful masks and enchanting puppetry, GOSSAMER is recommended for ages 8 and older.

Faced with danger at every turn, Jim persists on his quest armed with nothing but an old treasure map and an endless supply of courage. Sail the high seas with the crew of The Hispaniola in this rowdy adventure recommended for ages 8 and up.
